Due Dates:

Monday, March 10- Thesis Statement with one paragraph proposal

Monday, March 31- Draft Outline-

Begin with a statement of controlling purpose. Your statement of controlling purpose should be a sentence or a pair of sentences that states what you want to accomplish in your paper. -   I.e. “Political and military competition, including the creation of a strong naval force, economic competition among industrial nations, and a belief in the racial and cultural superiority of people of Anglo-Saxon decent made American imperialism at the turn of the 20th century inevitable.”  Divide the draft into two or more major sections introduced by Roman numerals.  Each major section is divided into two or more subsections introduced by capital letters.  The subsections may be divided into sub-sections introduced by Arabic numerals and those into sub-sub-subsections introduced by lowercase letters.    To come up with this, you will have to do a considerable amount of preliminary research.  This should be reflected in your outline; you basically should be ready to write your paper at this point.  The quality of your draft will be noted and applied to your final grade. The failure to hand in a draft outline, or handing it in late, will negatively impact your final grade.  T
